Server Guides » One Chest Skyblock Guide

One Chest is a skyblock server where everything you own comes out of a single chest on your own island. This guide covers your first hour, every chest upgrade, both leveling tracks, and the commands worth knowing.

Getting started

Join the network at play.performium.net and hop to One Chest. Your island is created for you the moment you arrive, so there is nothing to set up. You land in the void on a small platform with one chest on it.

That chest fills itself with items on a timer, whether you are standing next to it or not. A hologram above it counts down to the next collection and shows how much is waiting. Open the chest and press Take everything to move the contents into your inventory.

There is no nether and no end. Everything you need comes out of the chest.

The chest, and how it grows

Items you take out can be sold back into the chest for chest experience, which raises your chest level and pays out upgrade points. The chest only buys back items it gave out, so there is no way to launder outside loot through it. Anything the chest hands you carries the line From your One Chest, so you can always tell chest loot from blocks you placed and mined yourself.

Spend upgrade points on the Chest upgrades screen. Every upgrade tooltip shows what you have now, what you would have after buying, and what it costs.

UpgradeWhat it does
Unlock slotAdds another item slot to each collection
Bigger stacksRaises how many of an item can come up at once
Better itemsRaises the item quality tier the chest can roll
LuckierMakes the better tiers come up more often
Worth MoreRaises what everything sells for
More RoomBanks more uncollected loads while you are away
QuickerShortens the timer between collections
Collect EverythingOne press empties every banked load instead of one
Chest HelperHires a worker that collects the chest for you while you are on your island
Minion auto-sellYour helper sells what it collects, paid out at your next collection

Left-click the chest to see your full status - level, progress, points, slots, stack size, quality tier and everything you own - without taking your load.

Selling without leaving the chest

You do not have to carry loot to a separate screen to sell it.

  • Right-click an item sitting in the chest to sell that stack on the spot, for the same price the sell screen would pay.
  • Right-click the Sell button to sell everything sellable currently sitting in the chest, in one press.
  • Shift-right-click the Sell button to sell what is drawn and then draw and sell every banked collection too. This one needs the Collect Everything upgrade.
  • Left-click and shift-click still take items into your bag exactly as they always did, and left-click on the Sell button still opens the full sell screen.

The sell screen only ever reads your bag - armor you are wearing and the item in your off-hand are never swept into it.

Nothing the chest hands you is ever dropped on the floor. If your bag is full, whatever does not fit stays visibly in the chest's own slots, and no further load is drawn until you have cleared them. Close the chest with items still in it and they are parked safely on your island - reopen the chest and they come straight back before anything new is rolled. Every leftover message tells you how many items are waiting, how many loads are still banked, and whether your helper is still holding any.

If an item has no sell value, the refusal names the material, so you always know which one it meant.

Block sets

Block sets decide what your chest actually collects. There are thirteen of them - Overworld, Ocean, Jungle, Desert, Nether, The End, Winter, Swamp, Garden and more - and they unlock as your chest levels up.

  • You choose which unlocked sets are switched on, up to a cap that grows with you.
  • At least one set must stay switched on.
  • Right-click a set to see exactly which blocks it contains and what each one sells for.
  • Every set also lists which creatures spawn from it, so you can see what turning a set on will bring to your island before you turn it on.

Two levels to climb

Progress runs on two separate tracks, and they reward different things.

  • Island level rewards building, and each level asks for more than the last. Island levels unlock bigger island sizes, which you claim from the Island upgrades screen. Type /island level at any time to see where you are.
  • Your level climbs at the same steady pace for everyone, no matter when you joined. Each level pays perk points.

Perks are permanent and personal to you:

PerkWhat it does
SpeedMove faster on your own island
Void protectionKeep your items and your experience levels when you die anywhere in the One Chest world
Better DropsBetter items come up more often on your own draws, per level, stacking on top of the island Luckier upgrade
Sell BonusYour own sales earn more chest experience
Open BonusBonus player experience when your collection opens
Warp PointsOne more teleport point on your island per tier
Member SlotsOne more friend can join your island
Quest SlotsOne more daily quest each day
Mob LimitOne more creature can be alive on your island at once

Speed and Void protection each have their own on/off switch, sitting directly above them on the perks menu. Owning a perk and having it running are two separate things, so you can switch either one off without losing what you paid for. Speed comes off and back on instantly, with no need to relog, and Void protection is read at the moment you die - switch it off and the next death costs you exactly as if you had never bought it. Buying a higher tier never touches the switch. The other seven perks have no switch, because they change your economy or your caps rather than your behaviour.

Quests and the daily streak

The Quests screen holds daily goals, weekly goals and one-time milestones - bank collections, sell items, place blocks, open your chest, buy upgrades, kill hostile island creatures, earn cash. Each one pays into either the island track or the player track.

Clear every daily quest in a day and your streak grows, paying a bonus on top of each clear. If you miss a day, you can spend perk points to restore the streak you had.

Cash, the villager and the void auction

Collecting and selling earns cash, which is separate from chest experience.

  • The villager's shop sells a rotating handful of items for cash. It sells out and restocks with the next day's quests.
  • /baltop ranks the richest players in real One Chest cash, and adds your own place and balance underneath if you are not in the list.
  • Paying other players is switched off. /pay and its variants are refused - cash cannot be transferred between players on One Chest.
  • Items that fall into the void are not gone - they collect into a shared pool. Every so often a sealed lot from that pool goes up for bidding in the void auction. Nobody knows what is inside it. Bid with /bid, or click the bid button in chat.

A bid is real money the moment it is accepted: your cash is taken and held, returned in full the instant somebody outbids you, and it survives a restart. If the winner turns out not to be able to pay, the lot falls to the next highest bidder who can. Lots now carry genuine Minecraft treasure as well as the recycled items - stacks rolled straight from the game's own nether ruin, mineshaft, dungeon and end city loot tables.

Fighting

PVP is off everywhere except the arena. Challenge someone with /duel challenge, both of you betting the same amount of cash. You each vote for a kit, and the winner takes the pot. When a duel ends with a real winner, the whole server is told who beat whom.

The arena is sealed off while a match is live. Spectators cannot land a hit or take one, anybody who wanders into the ring cannot join in, and the two fighters cannot drop items or teleport out until the match is over - so kit gear can never leave the arena.

Visiting other islands

There are three ways to get to somebody else's island.

  • The Leaderboard screen ranks islands by how far they have advanced. Any island that is open to visitors can be clicked to travel there.
  • /island warps pages through every island that is open to visitors, with its owner and member count. Click a row to go.
  • /island visit <player> takes you straight to a player's island by name. It works for offline owners and for anyone on the island's team.

To open your own island, stand where you want visitors to land and type /island visiting on. That is also what gets you listed on the warps screen. Turning it off does not eject anyone already there - it only stops new arrivals. The warps screen also shows whether your own island is on the list right now.

Talking to your island

Island teams have their own private channel. /island chat <message> sends one line to your island's online members, and /island chat on its own switches every message you type into island chat until you switch it back. The mode is cleared when you log out, so you always start back in normal server chat.

If the chest's chat messages are too noisy, /island chestmessages off turns them off (and on turns them back on). The same switch sits on the chest status screen.

Changing your biome

Your island does not have to keep the biome it started with. /island biome <name> converts it to one from a set list - Plains, Sunflower Plains, Forest, Flower Forest, Birch Forest, Dark Forest, Taiga, Meadow, Cherry Grove, Savanna, Desert, Jungle, Swamp, Beach, Lush Caves and Pale Garden. Each island gets one change, so choose carefully. Typing the command with no name lists the choices.

Creatures on your island

Your chest spawns creatures as well as blocks, and which ones you can get depends on the block sets you have switched on.

  • Your island has a mob limit on how many can be alive at once. The status screen lists exactly which creatures are counted and how many of each, so a full cap is never a mystery.
  • Bats, endermites, silverfish and bees never count toward that limit.
  • Every creature your chest spawned counts toward the limit, even ones sitting in a part of your island nobody is near.
  • Creatures that wander off your island, or that belong to a set you never unlocked, are cleaned up automatically. Switching an unlocked set off is safe - its creatures stay. Your spawns simply resume on the next roll.
  • Animals that came out of your One Chest cannot breed. That has always been true, and the game now tells you why instead of just refusing silently.

Protecting your island

The Island protections screen lets you decide what is allowed on your island - fire spreading, fire burning blocks, fire being lit, crops being trampled, endermen stealing blocks, coarse dirt tilling, and whether animals spawn naturally. Mobs can no longer trample your crops either. Some protections are set for the whole server and cannot be turned off.

Phantoms are switched off permanently on One Chest, so you can build all night without sleeping.

Your helper, and what it sells

The Chest Helper upgrade hires a worker that collects the chest for you while you are on your island, and Minion auto-sell lets it sell what it collects. If there are things you would rather keep, the minion menu has a Sell filter: a paged list of every sellable material with a click to mark it kept. Kept items glow, so you can see at a glance what will not be sold. Anything marked kept is handed to you instead of being sold. The filter is per island and starts empty, so nothing changes until you set it. The Minion auto-sell button shows its price even before you meet its unlock requirement, so you can save up ahead of time.

Crates and voting

Five crates stand at spawn: Cosmetic, Mega, Vote Reward, Vote Party and God. Every key is virtual, so there is nothing to lose from your inventory and nothing to duplicate.

  • Vote on any of our sites, then type /votereward in game to claim your keys. Every single vote earns a Vote Reward key.
  • When the network hits 100 votes in a day, everyone online gets a Vote Party key.
  • The Mega Crate carries the current seasonal collectors set. When the season changes, so does the loot.
