Resource world

I don't know if this was brought up before, but why is there not a resource world? I wanted to build something in the desert but was unable to find some with sand. Using a resource world we can do /resource and destroy that world. Using the resource world we can gather items easier and not destroy the real world and have ugly deserts. I get that's vanilla but it would be nice to try and preserve the world so others when they join can build in those areas.
